Gun Safety

Robyn Gabel is fighting to clear the streets of overpowered firearms that kill tens of thousands of Americans every year. In 2018 alone, she has voted in favor of bills which would restrict access to bump stocks, require a license to sell firearms, set an age limit for the purchase of assault weapons, and set up a 72-hour waiting period for gun sales.

Robyn’s vocal opposition to gun lobbies and their holstered politicians has twice earned her a 7% approval rating from the NRA, and she will continue working to lower that score to zero.

While a member of the General Assembly, Robyn has worked tirelessly at the forefront of the gun safety movement. Robyn has co-sponsored or sponsored numerous bills every session in Springfield aimed at making our state and our neighborhoods safer.

Robyn has fought for gun dealer licensing, restrictions on silencers, stronger protections in the FOID card application process, and the Lethal Violence Order of Protection Act.

We need to send Robyn back to Springfield to stand up to the NRA and fight for gun safety.

Robyn’s voting record on gun safety includes:

  •    HB 3499: In 2011, Robyn voted No on HB 3499, which expanded exemptions for waiting period.
  •    HB 183: In 2014, Robyn voted No on HB 183, which authorized concealed carry of firearms.
  •    SB 1657: In 2017, Robyn voted Yes on SB 1657, which restricted bump stocks-attachments that vastly increase the fire rate of many rifles.
